Any entrepreneur can tell you, launching a startup is a learning process. Therefore, one of the best things you can do prior to launching a startup of your own is to learn from those who have blazed the trail. We were fortunate enough to hear some valuable insights during our interview with Erick Eidus of PudPod that will inspire, motivate, and teach aspiring and established entrepreneurs alike.
What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?
“You should expect to fail and the experience is still what you want to do with your life, even if you fail.”
What is your advice for entrepreneurs in your industry specifically?
“The pet industry is ripe for disruption through technology.”
What is your advice for coming up with a unique startup idea?
“I think the idea has to come from a place of massive conviction. The most likely outcome is that you are going to fail, so the idea has to be significant enough to accept the risk of failure.”
What is your advice for overcoming challenges and failure?
“You are going to get depressed and regret ever starting your business. You need to be prepared for that scenario. You need to heavily prepare for the downside risk and be okay with that so you know you’ll be okay even if you fail. Only then can you stay focused on succeeding.”
What is the biggest lesson you learned and what can aspiring entrepreneurs take from it?
“Don’t run out of money. If you run out of money, your company dies.”
